Intermezzo is back!
The position I'm in.
Making excuses for others is a full-time job
he takes on in his lunch break, his face turned
away as he lies. Each call is a delicate
intricacy between friends all over Newcastle
who will meet tonight and know because of him
too much, or not enough. I will go to where they sit—
a cat among city pigeons—point to every one and name
them and what they do; know who is not there
and the excuse she gave; declare the only truth in it's untrue.
